I have been reading a lot of this forum for a while now, and I haven't seen much discussion about How to Build anything that will keep you going when gas is $40 a gallon.
Maybe I just haven't found it yet.
I have studied many things, and this is one of them. Hydrogen production from Electrolysis.
If Gas gets too costly, most would simply say to take it from the bad guys, but that is not always possible, so you will need to know How to Make a device that will run your car or truck, without gas, ir in addition to gas.
If you people are serious about being prepared, then you should be thinking about this.
You can run a generator from the fumes of your septic tank, or a car from Hydrogen and Oxygen made from water.
There are Thousands of ways to do it, I know of a few of them.
Any New ideas or input would be an assett.

If you steal gas from the bad guys then you are a bad guy too. King James Bible: Exo 20:15 "Thou shalt not steal." Older vehichles that use a carburator can be started on gasoline the switched over to run on wood smoke gases from a wood fire. In Europe during WWII due to gasoline often being unobtainable by civillians many vehicles were run on wood smoke. Here is a manual about how to run your vehicle on wood. Download it while it is still there. www.morrow-industries.com/MPtraining/woodgas1.pdf

Wow, that Link went away QUICK. I just tried to open it, and it said FILE NOT FOUND.
OK, I downloaded it. It seems the URL you gave also had the dot after the end. That messed up the quick link.
After having looked at the pdf file, I have to say I have seen this before, but not laid out so well. I also saw this built to use on a pickup truck. You Tube has a few videos about this type of fuel.
Thanks for the info. If anyone has a PDF of a Hydrogen converter, feel free to place the link in this topic.
If not, then I may just have to draw one up myself, and post it.
Also, since I am the Last descendant of a bunch of Georgia Moonshiners, I will have to give my Grand Daddies Recipe for some Hi Octane corn Squeezins.

Back many years ago, I watched an old TV show that dealt with alternative fuels. The Fuel that was being tested at that time was quite simple. It consisted of 2 components. Acetone and water, and was mixed at a 10:1 ratio of 10 parts water and 1 part Acetone, and the car ran quite well on it.
Anyone else see that?

and everytime goods, livestock, prisoners etc were taken after a battle was that stealing? They took what didn't belong to them originally.

I believe it was an Old car that was converted to use ethanol (MoonShine). I may be wrong about the mixture, but they put One gallon of Water in the tank, and about 10 oz of Acetone, and the car ran as good as if it were burning gas.

Yes They Stole, and sure, if they had not taken it, it may have been destroyed, however, the Spoils of War have always been a Prize to the Victor.
So if you see one dead beside his H&K, I would have to say Why waste such a nice piece of equipment.
But that is lest likely then being out of fuel, and no way to get any.

So maybe part of this is already being ready to accept alcohol and then using the acetone/water mix.
I've gotta see if this works. Very interesting. Will have to scout out a donor car.
In the meantime will have to get some acetone and mix with water to see how it reacts/burns/ etc and experiment.
Under normal conditions of many of us keeping a can of gas in the shed for the mower we know how quickly the gas gets stale. The following spring it's less potent than it was during the late summer early fall. I looked up acetone and one site said a shelf life of 36 months. That makes it fairly stable for 3 years? If so that means a vehicle could have a potential 3 years supply of fuel off a quantity bought and set aside provided it was used right after it was obtained.
Ok,,,,off to fiddle with this. i think i might have something I can use for this to try it out

When you test this mixture, put it into a sprayer, and spray it into a torch. It should burn.
Also, as water is atomized, some of the H and O get liberated, and will burn, and with the Acetone as a combustion agent, you should have a pretty nice reaction.
And for this mix to be inside a combustion chamber would make it burn almost like gas.
People have been injecting water into the intakes of cars for a while. It helps to burn the excess fuel, and does a lot of other good when it is pumped into the intake as steam.
Remember what water is made of, an Oxidizer and a fuel. When you use a Hydrogen generator, you use low voltage and High current to separate the molecules of water into it's most basic parts, which are Oxygen and Hydrogen, and liberated from each other and a third element of fuel is added, they burn real good.

Another way to get the most from your Gas is to create a vapor chamber heated by the exhaust of the engine. If you convert gas into a vapor it is fully burned inside the engine. On carbureted engines, you can get extreme fuel mileage by turning the fuel from a liquid to a vapor before it goes into the engine. One man created spinning fan blades in the bottom of a carb that would vaporize the fuel as it hit the spinning blades from the carb. It mixed the fuel better, which made for much better combustion of the fuel.
Vaporizing water, and injecting it in the form of steam into the mix as it goes into the carb also creates higher combustion. It is already a vapor therefore it is pretty much ready to burn when mixed with the gas vapor. That works on the same principle as Nitrus Oxide injection.

I have found someone with a donor engine. Will work on experimenting soon.

Here are some ideas I've been looking into... http://www.greenspeed.com.au/ http://www.pedicab.com/ http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles/hackleman57.html http://www.cyclecar.com/?13283 ...And these... http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/quadcycles/index.html (have a look at the "Manufactures" linked page) http://www.freeenergycar.com/ http://www.ihpva.org/Builders/ http://gizmodo.com/394530/trailcart-...f+road-vehicle http://www.lightfootcycles.com/power.htm ...And making your own fuel,(E85 or E100)... http://running_on_alcohol.tripod.com/ ...An excellent vehicle to run pure alcohol in,(as VW engines were designed to run on E100 in the first place)... http://www.wombatcar.com/ (Frankly, it doesn't have to have this peticular body, but some form of VW buggy will work fine). Here's a site to find lots of VWs and parts... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ IMHO/IHTH Michael

this is a DIY bio-diesel site. The directions are for a 1 liter bottle worth. Anyone can figure out how to increase the recipe. http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=447609751&f=719605551&m=857600061 Note that this is not for used vegetable oil. Instead it is for new vegetable oil. Post SHTF you can plant extra corn to make oil out of. Black sunflower seeds have more oil per pound so that might be a viable self seeding alternative.
