If you haven't already, plant some fruit & nut trees this spring. These can be invaluable in a SHTF situation. While they don't provide enough food to complete your diet, they can definately supplement it quite a bit. Fruit can provide plenty of vitamins, especially C, while nuts provide a good quantity of protein & healthy fat. Of course, your AO determines they types of trees you can & cannot plant. Not just trees, but also bushes, vines, & any other plants that provide food & are fine growing wild, that is; without fertilizer, water, & pesticide application. I'm a huge fan of low-maintenance food plants.

It's also a good idea to know were to look for these things,in your AO,and nieghborhood that you travel. A food source while mobal is a plus. A coyote, looks for the right opertunity, then eats.

Damn squirrels eat everything around here. Nothing garden-wise is safe. Between the squirrels and rabbits....
Tried a small garden one year. Boy, was that a waste of time. They decimated it. Need a chicken wire greenhouse or something.
Good post.

A 50lb pull pistol crossbow is a very useful tool for game.

I like using a .177 air rifle for squirrels & rabbits. The cool thing about the pump-actions is that you can use them like a shotgun by putting BBs behind the pellet.

Almost what you'd expect from a round of bird shot. Of course, it will depend on the air gun you have. I have a pump-action Benjamin Sheraden. Very accurate single-shot with pellets, & very cool using the shotgun method. Try it. Just remember, you have to put the BBs in behind the first pellet, I like to follow the BBs (about 8) with another pellet.

Well, I guess its considered bolt-action & pump-powered.
