Of course, it could just be a jet contrail . But that wouldn't be any fun. Onward and upward, airforce

This won't make anyone happy, but I'm leaning towards the theory it was an airplane contrail . I ruled out the launch of a secret spy satellite, because there are too many other ways to disguise the purpose of a satellite, and because I don't know of any missile that can put a payload in orbit and be launched from a sub (or any surface vessel that I know of, for that matter). And if the government wanted to launch something secretly, they'd do it well out to sea away from the shipping lanes, not a few miles off Catalina island. But I do like the theory it was one of us. Come on, you guys out in California, tell us how you did it. Onward and upward, airforce

It was US Airways Flight 808. Compare the photo at the top of this thread to the photo of Flight 808 taken the next day: ![[Linked Image]](http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s31/airforce682000/425px_wide.png) Of course, we'll be hearing conspiracy theories about it from now until Doomsday. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I still think we should be suggesting the Militia (gasp!) touched it off. Onward and upward, airforce

I think you have images of 2 different missile launches now.

I traveled straight through that area on November 5th, and I saw dozens of "contrails" that looked very similar to that one, which I believe to have been primarily NAVY jets. Of course, these "contrails" did not evaporate like the ones I remember watching as a child, and by the time we neared L.A. the sky had been criss-crossed and transformed from cloudless to completely obscured. Some people, like G. Edward Griffin and Alex Jones might refer to them as "chemtrails." What In The World Are They Spraying?
I would gladly lay aside the use of arms and settle matters by negotiation, but unless the whole will, the matter ends, and I take up my battle rifle, and thank God that He has put it within my grasp.

Being a retired Air Force weather forecaster, I think I can explain that one. "Contrail" is short for "condensation trail," phenomenon caused by the warm exhaust mixing with a large amount of ice crystals in the upper troposphere. (Some people think this is jet exhaust; it isn't. In fact, contrails were the bane of 8th Air Force bombers during WWII. Who needed radar, when pretty little contrails were pointing right at our bomber formations?) The meteorological conditions for contrail formation is exactly the same as the meteorological conditions for cirrus type clouds. If you notice from the photos above, there is already a layer of high clouds where contrails are at. This is natural. Sometimes contrails form at the same time the high clouds are forming. When this happens, the contrails will persist longer, and appear to steadily thicken and grow in size. It is not unusual for contrails to appear to turn gradually into cirrostratus. This happens because the same meteorological conditions are required for both. it is not an indication of "chemtrails" or whatever other theory some people are putting forth. it is a naturally occurring phenomenon. Strangely enough, the advent of "stealth" technology meant that Air Force forecasters had to once again sharpen their skills at forecasting contrails. A billion-dollar stealth bomber that leaves a contrail ain't real stealthy. Onward and upward, airforce

Now, I don't wish to point any fingers... but always teach 'em young... http://www.rocketryplanet.com/content/view/2656/125/ http://www.anything-rc.com/model-rockets.html . Come on... it's just as believeable as the "Jet's Con-Trail" story our military is spewing out right now! Michael
