The Hesperian Foundation, based in Berkeley, is one of those non-governmental organizations with a political view that, as you might guess, isn't quite the same as ours. But they do publish
a number of books that have a wealth of information.
I would recommend both
Where There Is No Doctor and
Where There Is No Dentist. Both books have invaluable information on diagnosis, medications, dosages, and treatments of various illnesses and injuries, at a
modest price. And PDF and Kindle editions are available.
