it doesn't need to be a packing plant. Some hospitals have their own laundry service. I am able to buy the drums directly from the laundry contractor for $45. They reuse them and that's why they are so high priced from them. That's actually the deposit on the drum.

We have a large bakery here. I can usually get once used metal drums with removeable tops for free. They had peanut butter in them. The bakery has to pay to have the drums destroyed so they gladly give a few of them away.
