Eastern VA is nice. ~1 hour from Richmond & Fredricksburg. No trains but lots of water. Lots of farms too.
On equipment: You get what you inspect, not what you expect. On training: Our drills are bloodless battles so that our battles are bloody drills. On tactics: Cheating just means you're serious about winning.

If race-based violence breaks out in the south and begins to spread, it will spread up I-95 at least as far north as Richmond and possibly to DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. What I'm looking for are any thoughts about what we should be looking for in a town--strategic assets.

Flick, You definitely need to move away from the east coast.
Look into the area of SW VA/East Tenn or Western NC.
Find a self sufficient rural area. Stay 20-25 miles away from the nearest interstate and 15 miles away from any major highway. Try to locate 10-12 miles from a small town. Try to find land that is partially wooded and well off the road with no neighbors "next door". Seclusion and isolation can be your friend during hard times.
Try to get at least one other team or family member to move with you. Buy at least 2 acres, preferably five per family. This will be enough to grow a large garden and raise a cow or chickens for food, milk, eggs etc. It's essential that a secure water source be on the property or you must drill a well. Do not depend on outside sources for essential utilities.
"The time for war has not yet come, but it will come and that soon, and when it does come, my advice is to draw the sword and throw away the scabbard." Gen. T.J. Jackson, March 1861

North East Oklahoma/North West Arkansas is the best place that I have found so far.
It is a traditional American place to hide.
Finding work is the problem.
Tulsa would be your nearest major city.
Theories are not facts, and facts are not neutral.
